Sweet Sadie~ and of course the boys....

Here is my sweet neice, Sadie, at my cousin Keara's wedding reception this weekend. Sadie loves a good party! She is wearing a cute little dress I made from Ikea fabrics... Of course the boys had a great time also~ but doesn't everyone love a good party? This is a picture of the crew that made it to Chicago... (Ann & Sadie, Uncle Roy & Timothy, the boys and me sans Rob who was working) We missed my nephew, James and his staff, and of course my parents, who couldn't make the trip this time...

Spring Fever and Flights of Fancy...

Would you believe I got to meet one of my favorite fabric designers, Paula Prass, http://paulaprass.blogspot.com/ this spring at her yard sale? Starstruck is all I can say! Imagine the best yardsale ever~ pulling up and seeing a long driveway filled with beautiful decorator items and luscious fabrics. Paula is such a sweet lady and I really enjoyed meeting the creative genius behind these gorgeous textiles. I can't wait to make my neice a raincoat set from her new laminated cottons. I attempting my first quilt along here and I am going to use some beautiful flights of fancy fabrics for my quilt entry. But I couldn't resist cutting into my fabric to make a little spring purse for myself... I love this fabric! Here is my new spring bag in a sample of Paula's gorgeous fabric- check my Hyena Cart website if you would like a bag like this one...

Welcome!

Welcome to the my first ever blogging post.... and the launch of Plain Jane Sews blogsite! I have been sewing for family and friends for a couple of years. My mother was a wonderful sewer~ I remember picking out the fabrics for the clothes she made us. She also made us stuffed animals and other creations. I think that is where my love of sewing has it beginnings... I love sewing children's clothing, pillows, quilts, purses and bags, and more. Sewing is a creative outlet and a way to justify my fabric obsession. My friend, Danielle, has convinced me to offer my creations for sale. Since my passion is the creative sewing side and I possess zero business skills, my amazing & savvy friend, Danielle, will be keeping me on track as I try this out. Thanks D!
